Philosophy and Role of the Library Media Center

The Library Media Center of Greensboro High School seeks to support the philosophy, goals, and mission of the high school. The Library Media Center functions as an integral part of the school's instructional and curricular program. The Library Media Center staff, the teachers, and the principal work together to provide opportunities for the academic and cultural growth of the students.

Goals of the Greensboro High School Library Media Center

To provide a well-organized search system, readily accessible collection of materials and equipment as well as the technology needed to meet the individual needs of the students and faculty

To provide quality literature this promotes reading and lifelong learning.

To work with teachers in the planning and implementing of the curriculum.

To provide assistance to the students and the teachers who are using the materials

To provide assistance to the teachers to bring the resources of the Library Media Center into the center of instruction.

To provide library skills instruction within the context of the classroom curriculum for freshmen.

To provide access to information and ideas for a diverse population.

To ensure equity and freedom of access to information and ideas, unimpeded by social, cultural, economic, religious, geographic or technologic constraints.

To attract more students to use the library.

Scary Writing Test:


Do you love a good scary story? The Media Center challenges you to write your own frightful scary story for a chance to win a PRIZE! 

Rules and Guidelines:
Write a scary story, typed in 100
words or less.
*Any student from Greensboro High is eligible
to enter.
*Entries are accepted until Tuesday, October
24, 2017.
* Stories must be ORGINAL (your own) work,
typed, in 100 words or less.
* Content of story must be appropriate for
general audience (no profanity, etc.)
• Story must be turned in at the media
center with an entry form, Copies of
entries forms can be obtained from
Ms. Dial, Mrs. Lee, Mrs. Zanders or
Mr. Kling.
• Winners (1st, 2nd, and 3rd place) of
contest will be announce on Tuesday,
October 31, 2017
